Hugs is about a group of children who are each having a very bad day and need hugs to make them feel better. At the end, one of the children, Billy, has a good day-his birthday! Everybody gives Billy a hug, which makes him feel even better. Hugs reinforces the validity of having feelings and needing comfort.
