Bats in the Attic, written in the first person, recounts a child's summer vacation at the shore with Gram. Living in a Victorian beach town is quite a contrast to the child's usual life in the city. The child learns the importance of bats, how to dig and cook clams, and how to say good-bye to a very special summer.
