Harriet Tubman et le chemin de fer clandestin
Biography (nonfiction) 1,575 words, Level S (Grade 3)
Harriet Tubman was a Black woman who daringly escaped slavery and helped hundreds of other enslaved people escape to freedom. She became the most famous of all "conductors" of the Underground Railroad, a system of safe houses that enslaved people used to travel to freedom in the North. Her inspiring work continued after slavery was abolished, as she worked for the aid and education of formerly enslaved people, as well as for women's right to vote.
