The Bird's Nest

The Bird's Nest is an endearing story about a girl named Rima, a Syrian refugee living in the United States. She and her mother bake bird's nest baklava for a local bake sale, sharing a favorite dessert from their homeland with others. Detailed illustrations and an engaging storyline will teach students about refugees and show that, no matter our background, we can always find similarities with someone else. The book can also be used to teach students how to make inferences and draw conclusions as well as to retell to better understand the story.
